It’s official! Urban Sketchers has become a reality in
downtown Colorado Springs as sketchers come together to capture the First
Friday Downtown vibe via their favorite media.
Our artists come with unique skills and talents, from seasoned veterans
to aspiring beginners, and we are all excited for this opportunity!
We first had a practice round at Monument Valley Park, where
a few sketchers came out to witness and record the festivities on July 23rd. The practice was helpful, and
produced some great compositions! We then felt prepared to take on the Downtown
First Friday event, where we spread out along Tejon
street to sketch the inspiring scenes, wearing red to stand out.
Our Urban Sketcher, Eric Fetsch, was documented creating his composition in the gazette, as he engaged with people passing by. The original pieces created by the group were donated to support the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum for a mere $25.

Our Colorado Springs Urban Sketchers group will be back on Tejon Street during the First Friday Downtown events of September 6th and October 4th from roughly 5:30pm-7pm, we would love to see you there!
